Partnering with your Doctor Tuesday 5/13/2008 (6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) - 2 Days Away The City of Whittier is hosting a series of FREE informational and educational presentations provided by the Alzheimer's Association. Participation in the series offers a wonderful opportunity for community members to learn about memory loss, dementia, Alzheimer's disease and caregiving. Other dates in this series are evening meetings at 6:00 p.m. on May 6 and 20 and a morning meeting on April 21 at 10:00 a.m.. "Partnering with your Doctor" is a workshop on how you can get the most out of your doctor visits by coming prepared and being an active partner in your health care. California Bike to Work Day Thursday 5/15/2008 (6:00a.m. to 9:00a.m.) - 4 Days Away Los Angeles County's 14th Bike to Work Day on Thursday May 15 is part of California Bike Commute Week May 12- 16, 2008. On May 15, commuters are encouraged to cycle to work. The bike to work day event held at the Historic Transportation Depot will provide information on access to bike routes, promote safety and promote bicycling in general throughout the County. There will be prize drawings, food and drink and free hand-outs. Two local bike stores will be invited to attend. Whittier PD's Open House Saturday 5/17/2008 (9:00am to 1:00pm) - 6 Days Away The Whittier Police Department is participating in National Police Week by opening its doors to the public. This year, we are combining our efforts with the City of Whittier’s Community Services Department to also provide a “Kids Fit-For-Life” Health Fair. The event will be held on Saturday, May 17th from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and will include: •“Kiddie-K” Fun Run for kids 1-12 years old. Registration opens at 9:00 a.m. on the day of the event.
